Named for the Greek goddess who presides over various arts, an Athena MUSE plays a vital role in the Athena experience by providing assistance to the Athena faculty, serving as small group moderators, and being positive role models for our young ladies.
Muse volunteers will have the opportunity to network and share talents and skills throughout Athena events. Muses will assist with training young musicians while improving their own individual skills and teaching techniques. This experience can be very beneficial to your future and will provide an opportunity to make a positive difference in hundreds of young people’s lives.
The Athena Honor Band is a VIRTUAL event that occurs in February. Muses will mentor middle and high school young ladies from the US and Canada, and will have the opportunity to learn from trusted Athena faculty and guest clinicians. Selected Muses will require internet access and a quiet place to connect.
The Athena Summits bring together middle school and high school school-aged female musicians, college music education majors, and in-service teachers. This one-day Athena experience inspires, develops, and sharpens both music and leadership skills. Attendees work with professional female musicians and collaborate with women who have similar interests.
The Athena Music and Leadership Camp is the first to provide a comprehensive, five-day, intensive study exclusively for female middle and high school-level musicians, taught by successful female professional music educators. Our volunteer team plays a major role in the camp experience by providing supervision and assistance while being a positive role model to all campers. Specific information regarding report times and camp schedule will be provided for each location.
